Welcome to SULF/Uppsala and the Department of Pharmacy's språkcafé

SULF/Uppsala and the Equal Opportunities group of the Department of Pharmacy, Uppsala University are happy to invite you to our language café.

Registration is not mandatory, but in order to help us estimate the numbers for the fika, as well as any dietary restrictions, please register here no later than May 21th.

The SULF Uppsala language cafés are an initiative for Uppsala University employees and students to be able to practice their Swedish language skills in an open and friendly environment, while also meeting and connecting with people from all over the University.

We plan to have a handful of ice-breaking activities to get everyone warmed up, but after that you are welcome to grab some coffee or tea, and start chatting with folks!
You are very welcome and encouraged to join regardless of your level of Swedish, and the ice-breaking activities will be targeted to help more beginner folks, but there will also be higher level Swedish speakers that will offer you a more advanced experience.

- 1. Register as a job seeker at the Employment Service (Arbetsförmedlingen).
  
  2. Apply for unemployment benefit from your unemployment insurance fund (A-kassan).
  
  3. Contact the Job Security Foundation (Trygghetsstiftelsen) to check whether you are covered by the state sector transition agreement.
  
  4. If you are entitled to income-related unemployment benefit from a-kassa but not to topping up from the Job Security Agreement, you may apply for benefits from SULF income insurance. Report unemployment to Folksam and apply for compensation from the insurance by filling in this web form on Folksam’s website. Remember to enclose the confirmation from Akademikernas a-kassa with you application for compensation.

- It is up to you to decide when you want to inform your employer that you are going to become a parent, but you must do so at least two months before the start of your parental leave. SULF recommends that you have a planning dialogue with your immediate manager to plan r your parental leave and how your work is to be covered in your absence. This dialogue should also include a discussion of how you can maintain contact with your workplace during your leave and how the return to work should be organised. It is important that you do not lose skills so that you can continue to have good salary and career development.
  
  It is also a good idea to establish a “contract” with your manager. This contract does not have legal bearing but can provide support and guidance for both you and your manager and help to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings.

- The Swedish Employment Act lists four forms of fixed term employment – general fixed-term, substitute, seasonal and fixed-term employment when the employee is 67 or older.

- When you log in to My Pages, you can see the membership data we have about you. You can update information such as your employer, e-mail address, position and so on. You can also see your invoices and your membership number.
  
  We update all members’ address information automatically through SPAR, a register linked to the Swedish Population Register. If you would like to receive your post an address other than the one at which you are officially registered, choose yes in the field marked other postal address.
  
  Use your Bank ID to log in to My Pages.

- If you are a member of another Saco union, you can have dual membership and join SULF for a very small additional cost. This will give you membership of two unions for a single fee and provide access to two membership magazines, membership benefits from both unions and more.

- Normal membership fee: SEK 285 per month
