Solidarity with American colleagues within academia - academic freedom under attack

Together with European trade unions representing employees in research and higher education, SULF expresses our solidarity with American colleagues who are currently under severe pressure. Denial of facts and political interference threaten academic freedom in the United States, and we are concerned about these developments.
On 12-13 March, a meeting of the Higher Education and Research Standing Committee (HERSC) of the European Trade Union Committee for Education (ETUCE) was held, at which academic freedom was high on the agenda. The meeting approved a statement in support of our American colleagues. SULF's Director of Public Policy Karin Åmossa, SULF’s Head of Policy and International Affairs, participated in the meeting and presented an overview of academic freedom in the Nordic countries.
