Local AkademikerAlliansen associations and Saco councils

In some municipalities, trade union members are organised in local AkademikerAlliansen associations. These local associations consist of the members of the unions within AkademikerAlliansen that choose to cooperate in trade union matters within their municipality. Unlike Saco councils, which you can read more about below, an AkademikerAlliansen association can also deal with trade union issues other than co-operation.

Some municipalities and regions have Saco councils. The Saco councils do not have the role of local negotiation party for local trade union matters in municipalities and regions. Each individual union in a Saco council negotiates for its own members, meaning that each union represents its members in the annual salary review process, local negotiations on general terms and conditions and in co-determination issues. Each individual union, including SULF, is therefore a party to and responsible for its own local collective agreements. 

However, on certain issues, such as co-operation and work environment, the Saco unions can act jointly as a local party, (in the form of a local Saco council), in negotiations with the employer.
